Description:
The approach a manager takes to setting and going after goals colors their entire experience of their work, their performance, and their team’s experience of working for them. Many of the tools we’ve been taught for setting goals, managing time, and tracking our actions are necessary – but not sufficient – for hitting and exceeding the RIGHT targets in a way that is sustainable and deeply satisfying. There’s a marked gap in our skill set for hitting and exceeding targets. This session closes that gap, teaching participants the skills to create goals that forward their organization’s objectives in a way that leverages their personal talents and keeps them sustainably inspired and engaged.
Learning Objectives:
Each participant will leave this session able to:
- Identify their habitual effective and ineffective choices around setting and pursuing goals and working with others on their goals
- Identify the often-overlooked traits of a goal that’s likely to be successful (these traits go far beyond the “specific-measurable-achievable-realistic-time-bound” criteria)
- Quickly recognize when they (or one of their people) is getting tripped up by a target
- Design a goal and action plan, step by step, that inspires them
- Help others with their goals based on the step-by-step system they’ve learned
NOTE: These are standard training objectives for this program and can be adjusted based on the client’s particular needs.
Participants and Facilities:
This program is led with two facilitators for groups up to 60 participants.
As an all-day training, it is best led in a room with large round tables to seat six individuals per table in crescents (all facing the presenters). Lunch should be catered into the room by the event organizer. Continental breakfast and table linens are important but optional touches. Working with Power’s full-day event fees include participant materials (workbooks and other special surprises) and supplies for creating atmosphere in the room.
This same topic can also be condensed into a half-day training, in which case the facilities could be somewhat simpler. We will work with you to determine what will best serve your group.
